Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals at. Philadelphia Flyers

The Caps will look to make it 5 in a row today as they head to to Philly to take on a Flyers team that is playing better hockey recently. We will see if the Caps have more gas in the tank today after yesterday's emotional shootout win against the New York Islanders. No morning skate again today I will post the lineup later.

Other Notes:

*It is unknown who will be in net today. I won't be completely surprised if we see Braden Holtby again as the Caps don't play again till Wednesday. We will wait till warmups to see for sure. UPDATE: According to Caps Insider Alex Prewitt Barry Trotz said Holtby will start today.

*The Flyers have played pretty well against the Caps this season. Again the key will be trying to stop the Flyers top line. I feel they need to watch Wayne Simmonds as he is playing like a beast right now. The Caps have to stop him.

*The Caps need to play with more energy today then what they did the last time these two teams met. The Flyers should have Ray Emery in net today. It is important to test him and get infront of the net so that he can't see the puck.

*Eric Fehr scored a big goal yesterday and Joel Ward has a couple goals in recent games. Now it's time for Brooks Laich to pitch in. Laich has been a good defensive forward but he needs to get his offense going as well.

*Matt Niskanen scored yesterday, if the Caps keep getting goals from the defense it helps the team overall.

*Overall this is another big game for the Caps playoff push, with only 22 games left the Caps are up 12 points on Florida so more points means they can clinch quicker and then work on moving up in the standings. Since starting the season 10-10-4 the Caps have gone 23-7-6 in their last 36 games. That's a solid record.
