Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals at. Pittsburgh Penguins

The Caps are back on the East Coast as they make a stop in Pittsburgh to take on their rival before making their way back to the Verizon Center on Thursday. The Caps are 2-0 against the Pens this season as Braden Holtby looks to continue this season's success against Pittsburgh. Here is the lineup based on the morning skate.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Burakovsky
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Brouwer
Laich-Fehr-Ward
Beagle-Latta-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Orpik-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Hillen-Green

Holtby
Peters

Other Notes:

*The NHL's goal scoring leader Alex Ovechkin had a big game against Anaheim on Sunday skating with rookie Andre Burakovsky who had a big as well against the Ducks. Burakovsky will play on the top line again tonight.

*It looks like Tom Wilson will be inserted back into the lineup to add toughness tonight against the Pens. It looks like Aaron Volpatti and Jason Chimera will be scratched tonight.

*Braden Holtby will be back in his net tonight after having a night off in Anaheim, Holtby has had a lot of success against the Penguins with dare I say two shutouts.

*Brooks Laich will be back with Eric Fehr and Joel Ward after being dropped to the 4th line for a couple games. Laich has not produced a lot of points but has been a solid defensive forward all season.

*Jack Hillen will remain in the lineup and skate with his normal partner Mike Green.

*This game in my opinion will be a little tougher because Malkin will play for the Pens as he missed the last meeting between these two teams. The Caps will have to bring their A game tonight.

*The Rangers beat the Islanders last night so the Caps are currently 3 points behind the Rangers and the Pens. So, tonight's game will be another huge game for the Caps. Even if they can't catch the teams in the Metro wins will help them get into the playoffs. Should be a good game tonight.

Gametime 7 p.m on CSN
