Postgame Recap: Caps 3 Islanders 2 SO

Caps got a huge two points today against a very good Islander team. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Isles:

My Thoughts:

*The Caps played a very tough game and in my opinion should have won in regulation. However they proved that they have character and still won even after giving up a later goal by Ryan Strome that forced overtime.

*Matt Niskanen scored on a great play by Nick Backstrom who is leading the NHL points as of earlier today. However, Nick Backstrom is not that good apparently so us Caps fan will just enjoy his greatness while the rest of the NHL loses out on it.

*Eric Fehr scored late in the third. The line of Laich-Fehr-Ward play very well today. They played a hard game and where right there with the Islanders best players.

*Braden Holtby played pretty well, I thought he should have had the Hamonic goal but overall not a bad game.

*Evgeny Kuznetsov's shootout goal was a thing of beauty. Big play by Kuz who I thought played a good game.

*Overall the Caps got two big points that goes towards a playoff run. The Islanders are a very good team and the Caps played hard and went toe to toe with them. You never take a win for granted.
