Postgame Recap: Caps 5 Sharks 4 OT

The Caps got a big night from Jay Beagle with two goals and an assist on Joel Ward's overtime winning goal to give the Caps a rare win in San Jose. The Caps earn two huge points and started their 4 game road trip off in a good way Wednesday night. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Sharks Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*The Caps got plenty of secondary scoring but Jay Beagle's first goal of the game was huge because I said in the pregame I felt the Caps needed to score first.

*Braden Holtby gave up 4 goals in the win, would like that to go down some but for tonight a win is a win.

*Brooks Orpik chipped in with a couple of assists, when Brooks Orpik gets a point most of the time the Caps end up victorious.

*Joel Ward has been quiet lately when it comes to goals, but he scored on a rebound to give the Caps a much needed win. Again like I have been saying every point is huge with now 27 games remaining.

*This win puts the Caps back in 3rd in the Metro a point ahead of the Rangers and still within striking distance of the Islanders and Penguins. The most important thing is that they are now back up 9 points on the Panthers for a playoff spot.

*Overall this was a great way to start the road trip, the Caps have had their issues playing in San Jose. This is a confidence building win, now they need to carry that over for the rest of the trip.
