Postgame Recap: Pens 4 Caps 3

The Caps tried to storm back after falling behind but in the end could not get a tying goal in the final minute and fell to the Penguins for the first and only time this season.

Caps/Pens:

My Thoughts:

*The Pens came out with a purpose early and I thought the Caps didn't match that intensity last night. The Caps had 3 powerplays all in a row in the first period and gave up a goal during that time.

*Speaking of Refs the penalties on both side were terrible, they should have let these team play five on five more as Pittsburgh in the second got 4 powerplays in a row and two calls came on dives that were obvious to anyone who watches hockey. Again though they called a couple on Pittsburgh that were not worth calling too I will be fair.

*Braden Holtby didn't have his best game last night either giving up a rebound and Crosby goal on the powerplay he should have had in my opinion.

*John Carlson was a bright spot for the Caps as he scored in the 1st.

*Alex Ovechkin got goal number 39 on the season to cut the lead to 1 with about 3 and a half minutes left in the game. Again though the Caps had a couple of chances they were unable to tie the game.

*Overall the Caps have lost two in a row now, no time to panic but I think this loss may be the deciding factor that the Caps will finish in a Wild Card position because the teams the Caps are chasing don't loss it seems. However, it may not be a bad thing the Caps end up in a Wild Card spot.
