Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals at. San Jose Sharks

The Caps begin their west coast trip in San Jose. The Caps lost in a wild 6-5 shootout game in D.C on the third game of the season. Also this is the Caps annual Dad's trip. Here is the lineup based on the morning skate at the Shark Tank.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Johansson
Chimera-Kuznetsov-Brouwer
Laich-Fehr-Ward
Burakovsky-Latta-Beagle

Defense and Goalies:

Orpik-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Hillen-Green

Holtby
Peters

Other Notes:

*Dmitry Orlov seems to be making strides and thinks he can be back in two weeks. If that's the case that can play into what the Caps do during the trade deadline.

*Andre Burakovsky will be back in the lineup tonight after being a scratch for a few games .

*Braden Holtby will be back in net tonight as he will probably play in 3 of the 4 games on this road trip.

*The Caps recalled Steve Olesky to come along with the Caps on this west coast trip. Mike Green seems to be ok after the hit he took last week.

*It was a good thing the Caps had a few days off as Barry Trotz did not have a lot of time for the guys to practice. Most teams in the league have time to practice but not the Caps as the NHL keeps them busy. We will see tonight if the practice time makes a difference.

*The Caps will have a tough opponent tonight as the Shark Tank is always one of the toughest places to play for the Caps. The key for tonight is to score first, if the Caps score first they will feel better about themselves.

*Their are only 28 games left and the Caps are still in a good position to make the playoffs, however every point is important and they can still move up if they go on a longer winning streak.

Gametime 10:30 p.m on NBCSN
