Postgame Recap: Caps 5 Jets 1

The Caps moved into 3rd in the Metro Division after a strong game on the power play leads the Caps to a 5-1 win over the Jets. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Jets:

My Thoughts:

*Nick Backstrom had a big night with two goals and an assist. Backstrom is quietly moved his way to the top of the NHL scoring race, and leads the NHL in assists.

*Alex Ovechkin stayed red hot with a goal and assist to keep him at the top of the goal scoring race as well.

*John Carlson has put together a great season and his goal in the first got the Caps going after they had a bit of a slow start.

*Braden Holtby played well the goal he gave up was on a really weird bounce. Overall though he continued to be solid.

*Troy Brouwer scored a empty net goal which happened in the NHL. However, it happened with still about 6 minutes left in the game and the Caps up 4-1 as the Jets pulled their goalie on a power play to try to get back into the game.

*The Caps did a good good of not making this into a trap game and now are tied with the Rangers for second and one point ahead of Pittsburgh, a big weekend awaits the boys in red.

What's Next: Sat. Feb. 21st vs. New York Islanders 12:30 p.m on CSN
