Postgame Recap: Caps 4 Kings 0

The Caps had a strong effort and Braden Holtby earned yet another shutout. Troy Brouwer would score twice in his 500th career game and the Caps would earn two huge points in the standings.

Caps/Kings Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*Braden Holtby was great again last night as he was focused and playing his best against the defending champs.

*Troy Brouwer was playing in his 500th career game and he scored two goals. The first was from a beautiful pass  from Evgeny Kuznetsov, the second on a deflection off of Mike Green's point shot on the powerplay.

*Mike Green continues to put up good numbers though his ice time is down. One of the highlights of the night was when Greenie hit Kings forward Kyle Clifford into the Caps bench in the 3rd period.

*Eric Fehr had a good night not only scoring a goal, but shutting down Kings top center Anze Kopitar all night. Fehr has been a little quiet lately but made a difference last night.

*Marcus Johansson got a chance on the top line last night and did pretty well playing the RW spot. He had an assist on a beautiful tick, tack, toe goal that Nick Backstrom scored in the 3rd.

*Aaron Volpatti made his 2014-2015 debut last night playing on the 4th line with Tom Wilson and Jay Beagle. I personally though for his first game in a really long time he played pretty well.

*Overall the Caps played a very good all around game which they did when they played Pittsburgh and when they beat Chicago twice this year as well. The Caps are now once again tied with the Rangers in points and only sit two behind Pittsburgh and three behind Metro Division leading NY Islanders.
