Caps trade Jack Hillen and a 4th round pick to Carolina for Tim Gleason

The Caps made their first move of the deadline today sending Jack Hillen and a 4th round pick to the Hurricanes for Tim Gleason. The Caps have also placed forward Aaron Volpatti on waivers to free up cap space.

My Thoughts:

Tim Gleason is a major upgrade at the 6th defensemen spot. He is in the final year of what was just a 1 year 1.2 million dollar contract he signed with the Canes last summer. Gleason is 32 years old and has a goal and 6 assists in 55 games this season. I like the fact that Gleason is also another tough player that will play with Mike Green. I will monitor more as the deadline comes up on Monday
