Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals vs. New York Islanders Game 7

Well tonight will be the end of what has been a great series between two teams. The Caps look to defend home ice and advance to the second round. The Caps Game 7 record has not been good in years past but Barry Trotz looks to help the boys reverse the history. Here is the lineup based on this morning's skate.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Ward
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Chimera
Burakovsky-Beagle-Brouwer
Glencross-Laich-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Orpik-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Gleason-Green

Holtby
Grubauer

Other Notes:

*Curtis Glencross is going to return to the lineup, and Michael Latta will be a healthy scratch. I believe Barry Trotz wants a veteran in the lineup. Glencross has struggled but he will be hungry to make a difference.

*First key to tonight's game is that the Caps need to score first. The Caps were great this season when they scored first. They have to get the Verizon Center going right away tonight and plant a seed of doubt in the Islanders.

*Alex Ovechkin has to have an impact tonight, if he can play well then I think the Caps will have a good chance to win.

*Braden Holtby has the chance to be a difference as well. He has come up with a lot of big games this season and he will need to be at his best to win tonight.

*Another key again will be special teams. The Caps penalty kill has been really good but they have to take advantage of powerplay chances.

*Overall I can't really say much, these teams have played six games and it's been a back and forth series. The Caps have a perfect opportunity to show that they are a different team this go around. They have faced adversity over and over again. It will be interesting to see if they can win and continue their season.
