Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers

It's fan appreciation day at the Verizon Center as the Caps close out the regular season looking to lock up the 2nd seed in the Metro Division with a win over the Metro Division Champion New York Rangers. Here is the lineup based on what Barry Trotz told the media.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Ward
Johansson-Backstrom-Brouwer
Glencross-Laich-Chimera
Burakovsky-Latta-Galiev

Defense and Goalies:

Orpik-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Gleason-Green

Holtby
Peters

Other Notes:

*Braden Holtby will make his 73rd start of the season, as he looks to pass Olaf Kolzig for the most wins in the regular season.

*The Caps will play the Islanders in the first round as the Isles beat the Pens 3-1 last night. The only thing left is to see who will have home ice.

*Stan Galiev will stay in the lineup because Tom Wilson is not quite ready to return to the lineup after taking a puck to the head against the Red Wings on Easter Sunday.

*Eric Fehr and Jay Beagle remain out with injuries, Trotz is hoping that they will be available for Game 1 against the Islanders later in the week.

*Injuries will determine if Stan Galiev and Andre Burakovsky remain with the big club or head back down to Hershey for the start of the Calder Cup Playoffs next week.

*Speaking of the Bears they beat the St. John's Ice Caps 3-2 with goals from Liam O'Brien, Dustin Gazley and Chris Conner.

*Overall the Rangers have everything locked up, and the Caps have more to play for. We will see if the Rangers will play their normal game or if they are gearing up for their first round opponent. We will see if the Caps can lock up home ice in the first round.

Gametime 12:30 p.m on CSN
