Game 3 Recap: Islanders 2 Caps 1 OT (NYI leads 2-1)

The Caps were able to force overtime Sunday in Game 3 in Uniondale, N.Y. However, John Tavares was able to score only 15 seconds in to overtime to give the Isles a 2-1 series lead.

Caps/Isles Game 3:

My Thoughts:

*Braden Holtby was great today in his return from an illness. Both goals he gave up were a little lucky for the Islanders.

*Nick Backstrom was great again and was able to tie the game in the third after a dominant shift by the Caps.

*The Caps did not play well in the first two periods, but in the 3rd period they dominated and were able to tie it. The thing is the Caps have to play that way for three periods. They have yet to play a full game in the series.

*The Caps were able to weather the storm but Kyle Okposo got lucky with the puck going off of his leg. The Caps have to block shots and not let that happen.

*Overall there is not much to say about this game expect the Caps played hard but didn't play well the first two periods. No time to panic, but Game 4 is huge. I expect them to come out hard and fight for their lives. We will see but this series is far from over.

What's Next: Game 4 April 21st at. New York Islanders 7:30 p.m on CSN
