Postgame Recap: Caps 3 Bruins 0

For the third time this season Braden Holtby shut out the Bruins. The Caps are playing well going into the playoffs while the Bruins will have to win their final two games. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Bruins:

My Thoughts:

*John Carlson has continued his stand out season with a goal in the first period. Carlson jumped up into the play and shot the puck high glove side to beat Tuuka Rask for his 12th goal of the season.

*Matt Niskanen chipped in with a goal as well, it may be only his 4th of the season but he has made a huge difference for the Caps this season with his steady play on the back end.

*Nick Backstrom got two assists last night and is now tied with the Flyers Jakub Voracek at 59 for most assist in the NHL.

*I have talked about how well Evgeny Kuznetsov is playing lately and he made a behind the back pass to Marcus Johansson who scored his 20th goal of the season.

*Braden Holtby was once again outstanding and is now in a three way tie with Carey Price and Marc-Andre Fleury for the most shutouts in the league at 9.

*Stan Galiev played his first NHL game for the Caps last night and played pretty well on the 4th line with Michael Latta and Andre Burakovsky. He played 9:56 and officially had one shot but had another chance as well. I was impressed with what he did, maybe next season he has a chance to make the team but one thing is for sure is he is putting himself back on the prospect radar.

*Overall this was a playoff type game and the Caps responded with a great 60 minute effort and got two points. They now lead the Islanders by 3 for 2nd in the Metro Division and are locked in as atleast a top 3 seed in the Metro. The Pens and Isles play each other on Friday which could decide who the Caps play in the first round of the playoffs next week.

What's Next: Sat. April 11th vs. NY Rangers 12:30 p.m on CSN
