Postgame Recap: Sens 4 Caps 3 OT

The Caps fell behind before the game could even get started with a parade to the penalty box. The Sens scored two 5 on 3 goals and were given a 3-0 cushion. However, once the game settled the Caps dominated the Sens and were able to force overtime. However, a breakaway goal by Kyle Turris gave the Sens a overtime win. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Sens:

My Thoughts:

*The Caps had to kill off early penalies. First Joel Ward got called for goalie interference when he didn't touch Andrew Hammond. The defensemen and Ward were fighting for position and their defensemen fell into Hammond. Then on the PP Eric Fehr was called for a hook which probably was a penalty, and Braden Holtby hit the puck out of play. So, it was a nightmare start.

*Marcus Johansson started the Caps scoring with his 19th of the season. Before he had scored he hit the post and the Caps were starting to get going.

*Mike Green again has quietly been playing well as he was able to cut the lead to 3-2 with his 9th goal of the season.

*Troy Brouwer has picked his game up down the stretch as he was able to tie the game in the third period to atleast steal a point.

*The Caps in the grand scheme got an important point after falling behind 3-0. If this was a normal game I believe the Caps would have won. However, two straight 5 on 3's never happen.

*Overall the Caps get a point but the Islanders moved back into 2nd with a win over Buffalo. The Caps only trail the Isles by a point for 2nd in the Metro and now have a two point lead over the Pens for 3rd in the division. The Sens are 5 points away now but I still feel the Caps are in a decent position to get into the playoffs.

*Speaking of playoffs the Caps magic number is 3, so with a win Detroit and a Ottawa loss in Toronto means the Caps could clinch today.

*The Hershey Bears got back on track Saturday with a 2-0 win over Norfolk who shut out the Bears Friday. Bears got goals from Stan Galiev and Casey Wellman. Pheonix Copley got the shut out. The currently sit 2nd in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
