Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals at. Toronto Maple Leafs

The Caps are back on the road for back to back games first tonight against the struggling Maple Leafs. The Caps have been on a roll and have a chance to gain more ground on the Islanders who lost to the Vancouver Canucks last night. So, the Caps have two games in hand on the Islanders and the Rangers are in Anaheim tonight. Here are the lines for today's morning skate.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Burakovsky
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Brouwer
Laich-Fehr-Ward
Chimera-Beagle-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Orpik-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Hillen-Green

Holtby
Peters

Other Notes:

*Braden Holtby with start against Jonathan Bernier.

*Matt Niskanen did get banged up after taking a puck to the leg against the Panthers, he is a gametime decision though he took the morning skate. If he can't go the Nate Schmidt will slide in to the spot I would think for Mike Green will be bumped up.

*The Caps have to put pressure on the Leafs right away, they are struggling and if you put doubt in their heads right away then I think it will benefit the Caps.

*Though Holtby is starting tonight I expect to finally see Justin Peters tomorrow in Philly.

*The Caps will have to watch out for Phil Kessel who is a dangerous goal scorer and can be a game changer if you don't watch where he is.

*Alex Ovechkin is heating up and I believe he will play a solid game tonight in Toronto where the media goes crazy everytime he makes a trip to Air Canada Centre.

*Andre Burakovsky will get another crack at the top line RW tonight after scoring a goal against the Panthers on Sunday. Hopefully the youngster's confidence gets back so he can contribute on a more constant basis.

*Gametime 7 p.m on CSN
