Postgame Recap: Caps 1 Flyers 0

The Caps got a first period goal from Jason Chimera and another dominant start from Braden Holtby to shut down the Flyers. The Caps won all three games on this home stand. Here are the highlight's.

Caps/Flyers Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*Braden Holtby in my opinion should be atleast considered for the Vezina Trophy, he plays almost every night and plays lights out. He has be calm and cool under pressure and has big save after big save.

*Jason Chimera scored his 4th goal of the season, and got nicked by Joel Ward's stick leaving Chimera with a cut across his face.

*Matt Niskanen had a solid game with and assist, but it was his big hit in the second period that energized the Caps.

*The team overall played a solid defensive game, would you like more goals sure but if the other team doesn't score you win. Never take a win for granted.

*The Caps continue their hot streak and are now 4 points up on the Rangers and just 2 behind Pittsburgh and 3 behind the New York Islanders.

*The Caps PK continues to get better with shutting down the Flyers who have the leagues 5th best powerplay in the circuit.

*Andre Burakovsky and Evgeny Kuznetsov in my opinion are playing very well. They aren't lighting up the score sheet however they are playing Barry Tortz's two way game which is good to see.

*Eric Fehr has been great as well, getting scoring chances as well as being a very good defensive forward.

*Overall it was a solid win against a rival. It wasn't the Caps best game but sometimes they will have to win 1-0 games. It is refreshing to see that the players have bought into Barry Trotz and are starting to look like a confident, hard working team that if they make it to the playoffs will be a tough matchup for some teams.
