Postgame Recap: Caps 3 Red Wings 1

The Caps got back on track Saturday night with a solid 3-1 win against a good Detroit Red Wings team. Here are the Highlights.

Caps/Wings Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*Troy Brouwer set the tone with a early goal on a turnover by Jimmy Howard. However it was a scary moment as Howard would injure himself on the play and need a stretcher to leave the ice. Well wishes to the Red Wings All-Star goalie.

*John Carlson turned 25 yesterday and celebrated with a goal.

*Joel Ward also got back on the board last night, Ward has been cold of late when it comes to scoring. However, Ward has played very well overall even though he hasn't scored a ton.

*Braden Holtby was great yet again for the Caps. He has been nothing but consistently very good for the Caps all season. He should play the next three games but I expect Justin Peters to be called back up from Hershey and play in Dallas next Saturday.

*Andre Burakovsky picked up another assist on the Carlson goal, Burakovsky is starting to produce a little more since being put back into the lineup.

*The Caps yet again got zero help as the Islanders, Pens, and Rangers won yet again. However, if the Caps keep winning then they will put themselves in very good position come April.

*The Hershey Bears won their second in a row this weekend with a 3-1 win of their own against the Norfolk Admirals. Former Cap Dave Steckel scored for Norfolk, while Nate Schmidt scored twice and Casey Wellman added another. Brandon Anderson was in net for the Bears. The Bears host the Admirals again today and Justin Peters is expected to start in goal.
