Postgame Recap: Caps 6 Maple Leafs 2

The Caps dominated the struggling Maple Leafs last night. The Caps set the tone on the first few shifts.   Eric Fehr and Marcus Johansson had big games and the Caps are now within 4 point of the Islanders and 5 behind the Metro leading Penguins. Here are the highlights.

Caps/Leafs Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*Eric Fehr continued his hot streak with a goal and an assist. Fehr is starting to break out as an important part of this teams success over the last 15 or so games.

*Marcus Johansson found the back of the net twice. The line of Mojo, Brow, and Kuzzy had a very strong game last night.

*Last night I saw a lot of jump in Evgeny Kuznetsov's legs last night. He only got an assist but he could have had more than that. He played very well.

*Matt Niskanen looked no worse for wear as he played a solid game after not knowing if he would play or not.

*The Caps defense was pretty good in this game, there has been plenty of solid puck support. The goals given up by Holtby were not really bad goals.

*Brooks Laich got back on the board and looks like the Brooks Laich of old. He is fitting in nicely with Joel Ward and Eric Fehr.

*Andre Burakovsky didn't score but I felt like he had another solid game on the top line.

*Alex Ovechkin scored the empty net goal and had a very strong game as well as he is now up to 20 goals.
