Postgame Recap: Caps 4 Pens 0

The Caps got back on track last night with a dominating win over the Penguins. The Caps frustrated the Pens and Holtby was on his game along with the Caps defense corps. Here are the highlights.

Caps/Pens:

My Thoughts:

*Alex Ovechkin was great last night, he played with a purpose and scored the Caps first two goals.

*Mike Green was very good as well with a goal and assist.

*The line of Brooks Laich, Eric Fehr, and Joel Ward were a difference as they shut down Sidney Crosby's line. With hard work you get rewarded as Eric Fehr's goal was the beginning of the end for the Pens.

*The Caps also set the physical tone with the Pens, especially Michael Latta and Tom Wilson. Both of them got into fights and wouldn't back down from them all night.

*Evgeny Kuznetsov picked up an assist which is now 3 points in 2 games since the All-Start break.

*The Caps PK was very good last night and changed the tide back in the Caps favor after the Penguins would try to push back.

*Braden Holtby made 27 saves in route to his second shutout against the Penguins this season.

*Overall the Caps came out and played like they did during December, now they need to keep it up because the schedule is going to get tough. With that said though if they play with this effort night in and night out they should make the playoffs and be a pain for a team to play against.
