Postgame Recap: Blue Jackets 4 Caps 3

The Caps were unable to comeback against the Blue Jackets last night. Now that makes tonight's game against Pittsburgh a must win in my mind. The Caps are now 0-3-1 in their last 4 games. Here are the highlights.

Caps/Jackets Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*First thing I said yesterday was that the Caps needed to stay out of the penalty box. They didn't has the Blue Jackets had 5 power plays I believe. The last one was with under 3 minutes to go and cut into the time the Caps could have used to tie the game.

*Evgeny Kuznetsov played well and ended the night with a goal and assist.

*The Caps power play was good their first opportunity though they did not score. The other 2 chances though were sloppy and ineffective.

*Braden Holtby didn't play bad but didn't play like he has played most of the season. That could be because of the week layoff for the All-Star game.

*Nick Backstrom picked up career assist number 400 last night.

*Andre Burakovsky scored on a deflection in the second period. Burakovsky was buzzing around the Columbus net all night.

*Overall this game was sloppy but the Caps can't afford a lengthy losing streak right now. With the Pens in town tonight the Caps have to get two points because the schedule only gets tougher as we go. Remember the California trip is this month.

*I thought at times the Caps played well and had Columbus on their heels. However, the Caps defense had some breakdowns and turnovers. Again like I said they didn't stay out of the box either. We will see how things go tonight but this is a turning point for the Caps if they want to make the playoffs.
