Postgame Recap: Caps 3 Blackhawks 2

The Caps got a big goal from Troy Brouwer with 12.9 seconds to go in the game to win the 2015 Winter Classic at Nationals Park. Here are the highlights of what was a great game.

Caps/Hawks Highlights:

My Thoughts:

*Brooks Orpik did in fact play today.  He was a warrior because I did not think he would after his knee injury in New York.

*The Caps PK came up BIG. Stopping a 5 on 3 in the second period that was a minute and half long. Then killing off a penalty late in the third before Jonathan Toews was called for hooking which would lead to the winner.

*Eric Fehr scored his 3rd Winter Classic goal, he scored two in 2011 in Pittsburgh. He played a great overall game as well.

*Alex Ovechkin was great with a goal and assist. However, he did also hit two posts and was all over the ice today.

*Troy Brouwer's winner sent the Nats Park crowd into a uproar, after OV's stick was slashed Brow kept the puck alive by just shooting. Throw the puck at the net good things happen.

*Braden Holtby played very well again, don't blame him for either of the Blackhawks goals really.

*Today was a special day for the Caps, not only do they win but to sweep the season series with the Blackhawks is huge. The Blackhawks are one of the best franchises in the NHL and have just a great team. It's a very big two points for the Caps today.
