Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals vs. Colorado Avalanche

Patrick Roy bring his Avalanche into Verizon Center tonight to take on the Caps who are coming off a tough loss to the Dallas Stars. Here is the lineup based on the morning skate.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Oshie
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Williams
Chimera-Beagle-Galiev
Laich-Latta-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Schmidt-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Orlov-Chorney

Holtby
Gruabauer

Other Notes:

*Stan Galiev will make his return to the lineup tonight and play on the third line. Galiev was sent to Hershey for a conditioning stint and was really good. So, he will get his chance to get in there tonight and also be a point man on the second power play unit.

*Andre Burakovsky has been playing so so lately so Barry Trotz will elect to sit him tonight in favor of Galiev.

*Brooks Orpik will again be out tonight because of a minor injury, however they are just giving him extra time so he is 100% when he gets back into the lineup.

*Justin Williams will move back to the second line, and will play with Evgeny Kuznetsov for the first time this season.

*The Caps have to have a fast start tonight, they continue to let the other team get the first goal and have to come back from there. It would be nice if tonight the boys can score first and then play with a lead.

*Overall the Caps need to get back on track tonight, Holts will be back in the cage and the Avalanche are not playing very well here at the beginning of the season. A fast start is key, plus I like how the fourth line played the other night. I am hoping they can get on the board tonight.

Gametime 7:00 p.m on CSN
