Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals vs. Dallas Stars

The Caps are back home at the Verizon Center to take on the red hot Dallas Stars. The Caps are coming off a nice win last night in Mo-Town, while the Stars were in DC waiting for them to return. Here is the projected lineup.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Oshie
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Burakovsky
Chimera-Beagle-Williams
Laich-Latta-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Schmidt-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Orlov-Chorney

Grubauer
Holtby

Other Notes:

*Alex Ovechkin is pressing, so hopefully returning home will take some of the pressure off playing with Nick Backstrom.

*Phillipp Grubauer will be in the net tonight with it being a back to back night. It will be a test tonight as the Stars score and score a lot with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.

*Brooks Orpik is still not quite ready to come back yet, so Talyor Chorney will be in once again tonight. My guess is that Brooks will come back soon but there is no need to rush him.

*Evgeny Kuznetsov so far is having a special season, even with Barry Trotz putting him on the second line he is still making things happen.

*Justin Williams seems to be coming out of the little slump he was in as he is scoring a little more and seems to be a good fit with Jason Chimera and Jay Beagle.

*Overall this will be a good test for the Caps tonight. They can not get into a track meet though, they need to play well defensively and out work the Stars. It will be tough because they are coming off a tough game just an evening ago but again it is a chance to see if they can play well against a team that wins games a different way then the Caps. Should be a good one.

Gametime 7:00 p.m on CSN
