Postgame Recap: Caps 7 Avalanche 3

The Caps finally had the fast start that they have been looking for and took it to the Avalanche early and were able to finish strong to win 7-3 in front of a big crowd at the Verizon Center.

My Thoughts:

*Evgeny Kuznetsov was strong again last night with a goal and two assists, he has continued to be a spark plug for the Caps.

*Jason Chimera had himself a night as he was able to get three assists, he set up Justin Williams on the first goal to get the game started.

*Alex Ovechkin's countdown to 500 career goals is down to 15 as he scored number 485 in the first period after taking a feed from who else but Nick Backstrom, Taylor Chorney would pick up the second assist.

*Nate Schmidt has been playing some good hockey lately and was able to score his first goal of the season.

*John Carlson was able to score his 4th goal of the season last night, Carlson has been the teams best defensemen so far this season.

*Dmitry Orlov scored his first of the season on a great individual effort, Orlov is another guy who I feel like is starting to play well with the more games he is playing. Nice to see him get a goal.

*Another defensemen Karl Alzner finished the onslaught with his second goal of the season late in the third period to put the game away.

*Overall the Caps had control of this game from start to finish and with the two points were able to move ahead of the Pens and Islanders, however the red hot Rangers remain five up on the Caps with the Caps having a game in hand.

What's Next: Monday Nov. 23rd vs. Edmonton 7:00 p.m on CSN
