Postgame Recap: Caps 4 Bruins 1

The Caps rebounded from a tough loss in New York by putting in a strong effort against the Bruins. Even though they started a little slow in the first ten minutes, the Caps picked it up and were able to handle the Bruins from there with a solid 4-1 win in front of a pack house at Verizon Center. It was also the first game this season where I attended and they won so it will be a happy Friday for me.

My Thoughts:

*Alex Ovechkin tied the game late in the first period with his 7th goal of the season. It was on a great effort on a rebound. OV had a couple chances last night and the top line played well as Evgeny Kuznetsov got an assist on the goal.

*John Carlson has been great this season and he had a good night again last night with an assist on the Ovechkin goal, and added a 5 on 3 goal in the second period.

*Brooks Laich finally scored his first goal as he was able to get a piece of the puck while screening Tuuka Rask.  Dmitry Orlov and Michael Latta got the assits.

*As for Michael Latta he returned to the lineup on the 4th line, and again didn't get a lot of ice time but played very well last night. Latts was able to make a few plays and the assist was good for him. I think he played well next to his buddy Tom Wilson and Veteran Brooks Laich. Also, Latta last night became the first Cap to drop the gloves as he fought Tyler Randell.

*Justin Williams had another strong game with an assist. However, his overall game is just very solid the way he is able to play on the boards and in front of the net it is just a joy to watch him.

*Nick Backstrom had another assist last night putting a great pass onto the tape of John Carlson on the 5 on 3. That happened after Bruins forward Brad Marchand punched T.J Oshie in the back of the head. Marchand tried to do that a few times but instead of helping his team he hurt them.

*Karl Alzner had a solid game defensively last night like the entire defense corps and got himself an empty net goal to finish the game off.

*Overall a very good win for the boys in red, the defense bounce back as well as Braden Holtby who stopped 28 of 29 shots. The Caps showed they didn't let Tuesday night's loss effect them and got two points and are for the moment back into first place.

What's Next: Saturday Nov. 7th vs. Toronto 7:00 p.m on CSN
