Game 4 Recap: Caps 2 Islanders 1 OT (Series Tied 2-2)

The Caps desperately needed this game, after giving up a lead for the first time in the series the game would require overtime for the second straight game. With the series in the balance Nick Backstrom sailed the puck through traffic and past Jaro Halak to bring the series back to Washington tied at two games a piece. Here are the highlights.

Caps/Isles Game 4:

My Thoughts:

*It wasn't pretty but Alex Ovechkin scored on a deflection to give the Caps a 1-0 lead in the first. It was the first time in the series that the Caps scored first. OV added an assist on Backstrom's game winner.

*Brooks Orpik had a scary moment when he took a skate to the face, but he would come right back after getting stitched up. Orpik has been an important player for the Caps all season it was good to see that it wasn't more serious.

*Joel Ward played a solid game and in my opinion was a vital part of the game winning goal as he was able to cause traffic infront of Halak.

*Both the goals the Caps scored were goals you have to score in the playoffs if your going to try to extend your season. Both came with traffic in front were Jaro Halak could not see the puck.

*The Penalty Kill was hug last night, the Caps were 4 for 4, including a stretch in the second were they Caps had to kill 3 in a row. The Caps only got one power play and were unable to score on it.

*Kyle Okposo was not happy with the way Tom Wilson was running around and called Wilson "An Idiot". Okposo was upset after Wilson knocked out Visnovsky from the game. Wilson was called for charging despite not leaving his feet. So, it appeared to be a clean hit even though the hit was near his head it's because of the size difference. Okposo knocked out Eric Fehr with a clean hit in Game 3 so it goes both ways.

*Overall the Caps faced adversity and were able to come through again. Winning in Nassau Coliseum is not easy in the playoffs, but the Caps needed this game and found a way to win. This has turned into a grind it out series with two good evenly matched teams. The Caps are coming home to Washington as they have taken home ice advantage back in this series.
