Game 1 Recap: Caps 2 Rangers 1 (WSH leads 1-0)

 The Caps didn't play great but they were able to play well enough to take a 1-0 lead into the 3rd. The Rangers would tie it but Joel Ward would score with 1.3 seconds left to steal Game 1 at MSG.


Caps/Rangers Game 1:

My Thoughts: 

*Alex Ovechkin was great tonight. He scored to give the Caps the lead late in the first period. Then he set up Wars for the game winner. However, OV was after the Rangers all night and it was easily his best game of the playoffs. 

*Braden Holtby was outstanding tonight, the Rangers got more shots on him the. He has faced recently but stood tall.  Fast's goal in the 3rd was lucky the puck hit him and went in. 

* The Caps were very good in their own zone tonight but like I said in the pregame thy had to be good in the neutral zone and they were very good. 

*The Rangers players and coaches were mad at Nick Backstrom's hit on Dan Boyle that lead to the winning goal. However, the refs let Tanner Glass high stick on Holtby go too. It works both ways. 

*Henrik Lundqvist was good tonight, OV's shot was a perfect shot, and awards goal was placed perfectly too. This is going to be a good battle.

*At the end of the day the Caps stole Game 1 at MSG. They already got one in Nea York but if they want to be a champion they need to get greedy and take two. We will see but the Caps made a statement that the Rangera will have to earn this if they are to move on.
