Postgame Recap: Caps 3 Coyotes 2

The Caps remain on a roll as they were able to win their 4th game in a row last night behind two third period goals.

My Thoughts:

*The Caps again gave up there first goal of the game when Coyotes forwards Kevin Connauton beat Braden Holtby early in the 2nd period.

*The Caps power play would answer as Evgeny Kuznetsov took a shot that squeezed through Louis Domingue to tie the game 1-1. Alex Ovechkin and Andre Burakovsky would add assists on the goal.

*The Caps broke through in the 3rd period as Alex Ovechkin remained red hot with his 39th goal of the season giving the Caps a 2-1 lead. Justin Williams and Evgeny Kuznetsov got assists.

*Twenty five seconds later Mike Richards put in a rebound to score his 1st goal of the season, and his first goal as a Cap. This came after Tom Wilson charged the net after a shot that lead to Domingue not being able to cover the puck, it came loose and Richards shot it in. The crowd erupted for Richards who last night had a lot of good chances and played very well.

*The Coyotes however were not done a Connor Murphy beat a screened Braden Holtby a minute after the Richards goal to bring the Coyotes within one.

*Even though the Coyotes would make a push, the Caps were able to hold on for victory #44 on the season now giving them a league leading 92 points on the season.

*Marcus Johansson was out last night with the flu bug, and Stan Galiev got into the lineup. Galiev got two great scoring chances and drew a penalty.

*Jason Chimera was all over the ice last night, he got a assist on the goal by Mike Richards. However, if the puck would have bounce Chimmers way he could have had a hat trick last night.

*Overall the Caps keep humming along, the Coyotes were a desperate team that needed to win to keep their playoff hope alive. However, the Caps continue to just win.
