Pregame Notes: Washington Capitals at. Detroit Red Wings

After a few day break the boys are back in Mo-town to take on the Red Wings yet again. Last Tuesday the Caps lost 1-0 at the Joe after Petr Mrazek stole the show. Here is tonight's lineup for the rematch.

Forwards:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Oshie
Johansson-Kuznetsov-Burakovsky
Chimera-Beagle-Williams
Laich-Latta-Wilson

Defense and Goalies:

Schmidt-Carlson
Alzner-Niskanen
Orlov-Chorney

Holtby
Grubauer

Other Notes:

*Braden Holtby will play tonight, and the Red Wings will go back to Petr Mrazek who was dominant the last time these two teams met.

*Brooks Orpik did participate in the morning skate this morning but is not quite ready to get back into the lineup yet. The hope is that he will be back in the lineup against the Stars tomorrow.

*Stan Galiev was called back up from the Hershey Bears after a successful conditioning stint. He will be a healthy scratch tonight but may appear in a game soon.

*Nick Backstrom will play on the top line for the first time this season, Barry Trotz is just trying to get OV going again even though he has been scoring the goal denials and the pressure of passing Sergei Federov is getting to him. So, Trotz will put "Mr. Reliable" back with Alex.

*Taylor Chorney will again be in with Orpik out, however, it seems that he has not received a lot of ice time in the games he has played in but hopefully he will make the most of his time.

*Overall the Caps have had a few days to work on some things in practice. What I want to see is a quick start, they have not had a lot of those this season. The Rangers don't lose so the Caps have to win so they can keep pace. I know it's still only November but every point is important. We will see if they can get a little bit of revenge on the Wings tonight.

Gametime 8:00 p.m on NBCSN
