Caps draft G Ilya Samsonov with the 22nd pick

 The Caps in fact did make a pick last night drafting goalie Ilya Samsonov who played for Metallurg in Russia and has a 3 year contract in the KHL. Samsonov is the number 1 rated goalie on the draft boards.

  Some people think it is interesting that the Caps drafted a goalie, but let's be real this is a pick for the future. Samsonov has a good upside and won't be ready for 5 to 7 years. So, don't be going around thinking this has anything to do with Braden Holtby.
  Last year for the Russian U-18 WJ he had a 2.67 goals against with a .934 save percentage, overall in 7 games in U-18 he had a 1.87 GAA and a .945 save percentage.
